Why is journaling good for you?

A question we love to answer! There is a reason that most of us prefer handwritten to do lists, shopping lists, notes and more. Once you put your pen to paper, you usually have a much clearer head, don’t you? So why is journaling good for you?

The Scientific Research on Journaling

There are many research papers out there that provide multiple proof points on why journaling is good for you. The overall direction of this evidence is that it helps people to identify and accept their emotions, manage their stress as well as easing the symptoms of mental illness.

Journaling has even been proven to impact physical wellbeing in a positive light. There are studies in existence that suggest journaling strengthens the immune system, improves your sleep quality, as well as reducing your blood pressure.

And if that isn’t enough to persuade you to journal, handwriting is shown to activate large regions of our brain responsible for thinking and healing and it also encourages us to think in a more positive light. This is the reason that the Event Professionals Journal is a physical product and not something that can be filled out on your phone/laptop.

Emotional Control

Journaling helps you to identify, unravel and manage your emotions, and therefore improves your mental health. If you struggle with stress, anxiety and emotional up and downs then journaling would be a good practise to implement into your daily life. However, it is also a very useful tool to maintain your wellbeing.

The way in which the Event Professionals Journal helps you to manage your emotions is by helping you to recognise what you are grateful for, celebrate your achievements, identify what you are excited about and helps you to become aware of your emotions. Offering space to set goals also gives you a focus, gives you purpose, as well as accountability. You can track your mood day to day which helps you to identify triggers and what you can do to control those in a more effective manner.

No Judgement

We all know that feeling where we are holding something back and not revealing our true emotions in the fear that we will upset someone else. We tend to prioritise others emotions above our own.

Journaling is an incredible way to reveal your true thoughts and feelings without the fear of upsetting anyone around you. You can express how you truly feel, your fears, things that excite you, and actions you want to take to improve your life.

The feeling of being free to think and feel however you want to is truly uplifting and insightful.

You can view our journal and downloads available here.
